Pioneering the Sephora Journey in New Zealand
I started my journey with Sephora as an Assistant Store Manager (ASM) of Business Operations in the Queen Street store. After 6 months, I moved into the Stage ASM role and loved learning both sides of the business. “Today, I am the Store Manager for Sylvia Park – our second Sephora store in New Zealand!”
Opportunities Around Every Corner
Working for Sephora has been the best opportunity I have had to date and it has enabled me to develop as not just a manager, but as a leader. I remember visiting Australia for a conference in 2017 and making a special effort to visit the Melbourne Central Sephora store, which really opened my eyes to how other Sephora stores are run. Two years later, I was employee number 2 for New Zealand when we opened our first store on Queen Street.
Treating Every Day as an Interview
The advice I would share with others is: you own your own development and treat every day like an interview. If you ask for feedback from great leaders, they will share with you the recipe for success. Endless Evolution is important to me as I never planned a career as a retail manager; however, I fell in love with it due to the growth opportunities and the exposure to a variety of skills such as people leadership, business analysis, operations, and recruitment. The leaders at Sephora support a growth mindset and encourage progression from within. I am excited to see where my journey will take me.
